ISHI trains beauty professionals, product specialists, and anyone passionate about scalp health to understand the scalp as the foundation of healthy hair — through science-based education built for the salon floor, not the laboratory.
For decades, hair care has been treated as a surface concern — product, style, technique. ISHI exists because the scalp deserves the same rigor: an independent field of professional knowledge, not an afterthought to hair.
I moved from Japan to the United States, bringing with me the discipline of Japanese Head Spa. As a stylist, I met many clients struggling with hair loss, dandruff, irritation, sensitivity, and other scalp concerns — and I wanted to actually help them.
I quickly realized that experience alone wasn't enough. I wanted a stronger scientific foundation, so I could guide clients based on knowledge rather than assumption. That led me to study trichology and continue my clinical education in the United States. But when I returned to the salon floor, I found a gap between scientific knowledge and practical, everyday application. ISHI exists to close that gap.
The Leaf. Biologically, hair is made of dead cells — it is a result, not a cause. You cannot fix a plant by polishing its leaves.
The Soil. It is a living organ — a mirror of your client's inner health, and the environment everything else grows from.
By optimizing the soil today, we protect a client's hair — and their confidence — for years to come.
