Terms of Enrollment
ISHI Scalp Health Institute, a program of ISHI LLC · Effective January 1, 2027 · Version 1.0
These Terms are the agreement between you (the student) and ISHI LLC, doing business as ISHI Scalp Health Institute ("ISHI"), for the Certified Scalp Health Specialist (CSHS) program. By checking the agreement box on the application or at checkout, you accept these Terms and the Refund Policy.
1. The program
The CSHS program is a 100% online educational course: ten modules of video lessons, a quiz after each module, and a proctored final exam. Tuition is $1,100, paid in full before access begins. The program is delivered through ISHI's course platform (currently LearnWorlds).
The program teaches scalp health knowledge. It does not teach or authorize medical diagnosis or treatment, and it does not replace any license.
2. Who may enroll
You must be at least 18 years old. No professional license is required to enroll. The program is designed for hair stylists, barbers, estheticians, head spa and salon professionals, people who recommend or sell scalp care products, and anyone interested in scalp health. If you do not hold a license, the CSHS does not allow you to perform services that require one. ISHI reviews each application and may decline an application without giving a reason; a declined applicant is not charged.
3. Access and time limits
- You keep access to the course videos for as long as ISHI offers the program, including after you pass.
- You must complete all ten modules within 12 months of enrollment, and take the final exam within 3 months of completing Module 10. If you miss either deadline, you may buy one 3-month extension for $50. ISHI may grant a free extension for a documented emergency such as illness or a family emergency.
- Modules open in order. Each quiz must be passed at 80% or higher before the next module opens. Quizzes may be retaken without limit.
- ISHI may update lesson content during your enrollment. Updates do not restart or extend your deadlines.
4. Your account
- The information you give ISHI must be true and kept up to date, especially your legal name, which is printed on your certificate.
- You are responsible for keeping your password private. Do not save it on a shared computer.
- If you think someone else has used your account, tell ISHI at once at [email protected].
- One account is for one person. ISHI may end a second session when the same account logs in from another device.
5. Final exam and certification
- The final exam has 30 questions, a 45-minute limit, and a passing score of 80%. It is taken on a computer, proctored live on Zoom with two cameras, under the Exam Rules and Candidate Agreement, which you sign before the exam opens.
- Two attempts are included in tuition. Each further attempt costs $50, paid before the attempt. Exams run on fixed dates set by ISHI. You may book any of these dates that falls within your 3-month window. A retake is booked for a later exam date, never the same session.
- Passing candidates receive the CSHS e-certificate within 7 days and a printed certificate by mail within 60 days, and may use the title "Certified Scalp Health Specialist (CSHS)" and the letters CSHS after their name.
- The CSHS is a knowledge credential issued by a private educational company. It is not a government license, not a medical qualification, and it does not expand what your state license allows you to do.
6. Scope of practice and your responsibility
You are responsible for knowing and following the licensing laws, scope of practice rules, and health regulations where you work. You agree not to present yourself as a doctor, dermatologist, or trichologist on the basis of the CSHS, not to diagnose or treat medical conditions, and not to make medical claims about services or products. ISHI is not responsible for how you apply the course content in your work.
7. Use of the CSHS title and ISHI name
- You may use the CSHS title and the ISHI certificate only after passing the exam and only while your certification is in good standing.
- You may say you are an "ISHI Certified Scalp Health Specialist." You may not use the ISHI logo on products, packaging, or your own course materials, or imply that ISHI endorses your business, without written permission.
- ISHI may revoke a certification for cheating on the exam, for misrepresenting the credential, for making medical claims under the CSHS name, or for conduct that harms clients or the reputation of the program. ISHI will notify you in writing and give you a chance to respond before revoking.
8. Course materials and copyright
All videos, slides, quizzes, exam questions, handouts, and images are the property of ISHI LLC and are protected by copyright. Your tuition buys one personal, non-transferable license to view them for your own study. You agree not to download, copy, record, screenshot, share, resell, translate, or teach from the materials. Breaking this section ends your access without refund and may lead to legal action.
9. Student conduct and community rules
When you use any part of the course platform (comments, community, messages, email to ISHI), you agree:
- not to use obscene, abusive, threatening, harassing, or discriminatory language
- not to post anything unlawful, or anything that promotes violence
- not to post client photos or client information without the client's written consent
- not to impersonate another person, including ISHI staff
- not to send spam or advertise your own business to other students
Breaking these rules can lead to removal of the content, suspension, or the end of your enrollment without refund. ISHI may review messages sent through the platform to keep it safe.
10. Refunds
Refunds follow the Refund Policy, which is part of these Terms.
11. ISHI's limits
- ISHI provides the course "as is." ISHI does not promise any employment, income, client outcome, or that any state board will recognize the credential.
- ISHI may change the platform, schedule, or content. If ISHI closes the program before you finish, ISHI will refund the unused part of your tuition, counted by modules not yet completed.
- To the extent the law allows, ISHI's total liability to you is limited to the tuition you paid.
12. Privacy
ISHI handles your information under the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy.
13. Disputes and governing law
If a problem comes up, write to [email protected] first; most issues can be settled by email within 30 days. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and any court case is brought in Los Angeles County, California.
14. Changes to these Terms
ISHI may update these Terms for future students. You are bound by the version you accepted, which ISHI keeps on file with the date of your acceptance.
15. Educational content, not medical advice
The course and everything on the ISHI website is education. It is not medical advice, and it should not be relied on to diagnose or treat any person. When a client's condition needs a medical evaluation, the course teaches you to recommend one.
16. Feedback and testimonials
ISHI may use your feedback to improve the course. ISHI will not publish your name, photo, words, or video as a testimonial without your written permission.
17. Website availability
ISHI uses reliable providers, but the website and course platform may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside ISHI's control, such as an internet, power, or provider outage. ISHI is not responsible for these interruptions. If an outage stops a final exam, the Exam Rules apply and the attempt does not count. Please keep your own devices secure and up to date.
18. Links to other websites
The course may link to other websites, such as research articles or product information. ISHI does not control those sites and is not responsible for their content. A link is not an endorsement.
19. Notices
ISHI sends notices to the email address on your account, and you send notices to [email protected]. An email counts as received on the next business day after it is sent.
20. General
- If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
- If ISHI does not enforce a right at one time, it does not give up that right.
- These Terms, the Refund Policy, the Privacy Policy, and the Exam Rules are the whole agreement between you and ISHI about the program, and replace anything said before.
- These Terms are between you and ISHI only. No one else has rights under them.
